DJ Fergie Ferg

May 21st, 2009

djferg

USD Junior Mark Ferguson–aka DJ Fergie Ferg– released his new album last week.
“My Most Awkward Years” is a mashup mix Fergie Ferg put together.
“Here is the long awaited album release of DJ Fergie Ferg. The album is title “My Most Awkward Years.” It is a celebration of what I consider the most awkward years of my life: Middle School. So that means all of the 90+ samples come from songs that came out between the years 1999-20002. Thats right some of the most ridiculous songs to ever hit the airwaves will once again have you saying I can’t believe that I used to listen to Creed, or what was I thinking when I listened to Shaggy back in the day. Mad props go out to my cousin Kevin Rollinson for making this amazing cover, if you guys don’t get it that hand motion means awkward turtle. Make sure to play this as a gapless album, and enjoy ladies and gentleman.”

Hey,
recorded a few tunes this afternoon.

“Epsilon Waves”
Once I had a dream where a guy told me the future of humans hinged on Epsilon Brain waves ( I know, right?).  So I looked it up the next day, and apparently epsilon waves are associated with the frequencies of the brain during meditation for buddhists, or other altered states of consciousness.
Weird.

“DemROCKracy” Concert by Liz Crosby

April 23rd, 2009

Andy jamming on the geetar

Ever since I lost my job as an RA, my free food radar has been in pristine condition.  So, going about my day to day scurry for free food, I ran into my good friend Morgan Oakland who wanted me to attend “DemROCKrady” an event that she had helped put together with her poli sci fraternity, pi sigma alpha.  Free food, free music, give away prizes, and cute guys to take pictures of for the Vista and her fraternity, what more could I ask for?  I popped in with my mondo camera and a friend, and was blown away by the student talent that took over the stage in the UC forum.

056

Unfortunately, the student body wasn’t out in full force to witness the insanity that ensued on that make shift stage, but regardless, the student musicians that so willingly expressed their passions for music, were most certainly legitimate.  Brittany Steffen, a Junior who had just turned 21 that day, stuck around despite her newly acquired ability to purchase alcohol (legally), to listen to Andy Cullison, JP Kennedy, and Justin Hall.

0431

The night, though crowds were scarce, was epic, and as it came to an end, the 21+ took the after party to Guava.  Not to mention, the political science honors fraternity that put the whole show on was able to amass a large pile of canned food to go towards their canned food drive.  I also came away with an Obama coffee table book.  Not too shabby Pi Sigma Alpha!  Let’s hope that our student musicians can find more student support in the future.  Maybe with a little help from the newly emerging USD Radio?

"Welcome to Nelson" EP By Peter Nixon

2001 brought me an old, electric guitar with broken pickups. I traded Robert Millsap a black and white computer monitor for it. That was the second best trade of my life–haulin in a 6 oz. slammer on the Meadow Ridge Elementary playground was #1, but that’s another story. After that trade though, a decade long love affair was born between the six stringed, fine neck and I. I’ve been writing and playing since. The “Welcome to Nelson” EP was written in the woods of Northeastern, Washington in 2008–where I was born and raised. It’s one of the last sacred places on this rock.
