2012, Southern Literature & Folk: An Interview with J Tillman (Fleet Foxes)

Most unfortunately, the boring beast of traffic didn’t permit enough time for J. Tillman of the Fleet Foxes to make a pit-stop into The Closet on campus. However, I got to meet up with him before his show at the Casbah promoting his new solo album Year in the Kingdom. In the front seat of his car on Kettner Blvd with airplanes just overhead, we talked about the literary traditions influencing his work, the medieval interests of he and fellow Fox Robin Pecknold,  and our mutually shared opinions on 2012.
If nothing else, check out Tillman’s solo work. He’s played a wonderful collaborative role in the Fleet, but his solo work is equally as engaging and deep.
